Molecular Bioengineering

Technische Universität Dresden

Graduate Winter Semester

The master's program offers a novel combination of biology, biochemistry, biophysics, materials science, medicine, bioinformatics and nanotechnology. It teaches the basics of biomedicine and bionanotechnology with two goals: on the one hand to be able to better characterize and understand complex molecular machines with the help of biological approaches and on the other hand by means of nanotechnology and bioinformatics technologies for application in the field of biomaterials and biomedicine to develop.

In fact, in the 20th century, physics and biology have evolved to the atomic and molecular levels. In order to be able to accept and master the new technological challenges, research must follow this trend and move from micro to nanotechnology. At this level of spatial resolution, technology meets biology. The molecules in cells and in all life on earth are nanomachines encoded in a genetic language. Characterized by complex functionality on a very small scale, these nanomachines are characterized by greater efficiency with lower energy consumption and less environmental impact compared to all other known artificially created technologies. The goal is to be able to describe, use and manipulate or develop cellular machines.
