The research-orientated master’s program builds on the bachelor’s program in physics. It aims to give students a deeper level of knowledge and an understanding of the scientific methods of physics and – depending on the choice of elective courses – of related subjects. Program goals include deepening students’ knowledge of physics, supporting their specialization in the field, and helping them expand their skills, including the ability to perform independent research. Program participants acquire the ability to successfully deal with a variety of scientific and technical problems as generalists in the natural sciences.
The master's program provides in-depth and expanded physical knowledge and - at the student's choice - also knowledge of related disciplines. The master’s program focuses on advanced concepts, current methodology and topics and methods of current research. The course imparts independent scientific work in a special area of physics, especially the scientific focus of the department of physics such as nano and surface physics, biophysics, ultra-short-term physics or the physics of complex quantum systems, the rules of good scientific practice and the development of new facts, e.g. B. in research laboratories or theoretical working groups.
