The TU Dortmund is the only university in North Rhine-Westphalia, which offers a study of psychology as a subject for teaching at grammar schools and comprehensive schools and vocational colleges. In the teaching degree program, two subjects (two-subject Bachelor) and the comprehensive area of educational science are studied.
The study of the subject psychology is geared towards an activity in the field of school and education. In addition to basic disciplines (such as general psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, differential psychology), application subjects (such as clinical psychology, work and organizational psychology, educational psychology) and the research methods of psychology, didactics plays an important role in the study. The study is completed with a bachelor's or master's thesis, in which the ability to work scientifically is demonstrated. This can be done in one of the two subjects or in the educational sciences. The master's thesis will be accompanied by an accompanying seminar of the respective subject or educational sciences.
