Computer Scientist / Bioinformatics (m / w / d)
At the Center for Digital Health under the direction of Professor dr. Roland Eils will do innovative health research in the fields of computer science, genomics and personalized medicine. In this exciting research environment, highly complex analysis algorithms in Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and DEEP Learning are developed and used in a national and international context. As a (bi) computer scientist, you support the technical implementation of our scientific programs in a professional architecture. In this technologically challenging environment for medical research, we are looking for committed and motivated employees to rebuild our innovative team.
Tasks:
- Support in building the IT team
- Scientific support in implementing the latest IT technologies
- Optimization and integration of applications and workflows in the field of life sciences
- Conceptual support and establishment of our scientific data centers
- Close cooperation with our scientific development teams
- Close cooperation in leading international cloud projects (https://www.elixir-europe.org/, https://ec.europa.eu/research/openscience/, https://www.humancellatlas.org/)
- Representation at scientific project events as well as presentations at (inter-) national meetings
Requirements:
University degree in a science and technology subject, preferably (bio) computer science or another science and technology degree program
- Required for the position are:
- Deep understanding of IT technologies and extensive knowledge of Unix / Linux and Scripting (eg Shell, Python, Perl)
- Further knowledge, also in subareas, is advantageous:
- Experiences in package and container technologies (eg Conda, Docker, Singularity)
- API knowledge
- Knowledge of workflow management systems (eg Galaxy, snakemake, nextflow)
- Basic knowledge in the field of Next Generation Sequencing
- Basic knowledge of automation and orchestration (eg Ansible, Puppet)
- Knowledge of complex cloud administration / HPC systems
- Additionally required
- Reliability, initiative, team spirit and high motivation
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Very good German and English spoken and written
