The ‘Business Information Systems’ master’s degree programme is deepening the students’ knowledge in information management. It mainly stresses the effective and efficient usage of information technology (IT) in enterprises and non-profit organisation. The topics of strategic IT planning, business process management, data mining and data science as well as architecture, usage and software enhancement of ERP systems are covered in detail.

Описание программы обучения "Business Information Systems – Information Management"

The course is designed to enable students to effectively implement the latest scientific methods of information systems in practice. Particular emphasis is placed on increasing the conceptual and methodological skills of the students, developing independent ideas for solving operational issues related to IT and arguing them against alternative solutions. These skills can then be used in the practical development or introduction of operational and administrative information systems after graduation.

In their work, the students observe the framework conditions of scientific work and follow the ethical guidelines of research and professional activity.

The course is aimed at graduates of bachelor's programs in business informatics as well as computer science and related bachelor's programs. Business informatics graduates can deepen business informatics topics and / or delve deeper into core areas of computer science than was possible in their first degree. Graduates in computer science can deepen their knowledge by working in addition to more demanding topics from the field of computer science in special subjects from the field of business informatics.

The master's program has a standard period of study of four semesters. In the first three semesters, the focus is on expanding your knowledge and skills in the following areas:

Structure and functioning of information systems
User interface and data preparation for users of information systems
SW quality as well as IT security and organization of IT projects
You can also set your own priorities by selecting a specialist seminar and several other elective subjects. In doing so, you will also expand your personal skills through the increasingly seminar-style teaching.

With the master's thesis in the fourth semester, you show that you can work independently on projects with a high level of solution competence. In addition to using the skills you have acquired so far, you should learn in the final thesis how to acquire the necessary knowledge yourself.
