Modern logistics involves the planning, implementation, management and control of materials, information and value flows. For this reason, logistics experts must not only be able to recognise technical and economic problems, but also to analyse them. Only then can they improve processes within a company, or develop new ones. Our degree programme includes lectures from Münster School of Business as well as from the departments of mechanical engineering and civil engineering. Teaching begins with core subjects such as Infrastructure and Transport, Process and Project Management, Operations Research, and Technical Foundations (Materials Handling). The introductory integration module in Principles of Logistics ensures that you will get off to a good start on the programme, even if you do not have a strong background in the field.
In the second and third semesters, you will develop your profile in a targeted manner by enhancing your knowledge in selected areas, such as business and logistics law, procurement and distribution logistics, or production and disposal logistics. You will also gain further experience in technical logistics, logistics controlling, and information logistics. In addition, you will continue to enhance your skills in IT and processes. At the same time, in methodology seminars you will learn to work in a research-based way, using English as the academic language. During the semester, you will join a team of four to five students to tackle a specific task within a logistics project at a company from one of a variety of sectors.
At the start of the fourth semester, you will tackle a complex simulation, including the development of tools, enabling your team to apply the knowledge you have learned. This is followed by the Master’s thesis which, thanks to our industry contacts, you will be able to complete at a company.
