Программа обучения Mechatronics and Robotics

Программа обучения "Mechatronics and Robotics" в Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences

Mechatronics & Robotics

Mechatronics is one of the engineering sciences. As a multi- and interdisciplinary field, it combines content from mechanics, mechanical engineering, electronics/electrical engineering and computer science.

In times of Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, 3D printing, artificial intelligence and robotics, it plays a key role. Industrial robots, automated manufacturing systems or drives in vehicles are examples of modern, processor-controlled systems. That's exactly what mechatronics is all about. Mechatronics links programmable electronic components and sensors with the functionality of mechanical assemblies. Because of its interdisciplinary and system-related nature, there are applications for mechatronics in all industrial sectors.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Mechatronics and Robotics"

After successfully completing your studies, you will have the opportunity to work in various industries. Almost all manufacturing industry segments are eligible, but also transport and logistics companies, online retailers and research institutions. You will primarily get a job in an industrial company. But you can also become self-employed with your own company or engineering office.

Our graduates work as project engineers, development engineers, shift managers, testing and testing engineers or as customer advisors or employees in technical sales or even manage companies. Mechatronics engineers are always in demand and are currently extremely sought after. Especially in industries with a high level of innovation and automation and their supply industries. Here are a few examples of industrial sectors where you can work: automotive technology, robotics and automation technology, chip production, consumer electronics, medical technology, warehouse logistics for online retailers, toy industry, machine tool construction, watch industry. There is definitely something for you!

Учебный план программы обучения "Mechatronics and Robotics"

The Mechatronics and Robotics degree program lasts three semesters and is taught entirely in English. As a prerequisite for admission, you need a first academic degree (bachelor's or diploma) in an engineering degree program with at least 210 ECTS credit points and a focus on mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or automotive technology. You must have completed this course of study with a grade point average of better than 2.0. You must also speak English sufficiently well and need proof of language qualifications at level C1. When you apply, you can choose one of the two specializations: Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering.

In the first two semesters you will take four compulsory modules and can choose two compulsory elective modules from five offerings. A total of 6 modules per semester. The compulsory modules in the first semester are: Automation Control, Mechanical Problems in Mechatronics, Development of Mechatronic Systems and Sensor Systems.

In the second semester it is: systems theory, design of robot workplaces, digital signal processing, robotic vision. The elective modules mostly have a high proportion of laboratory practice and are therefore limited in the number of participants: Communication Systems, Rapid Control Prototyping, Vibration Engineering, Applied Physics, Aspects of Production Planning and Work Design and Tribology in Micromechanics. Each semester there is an elective Mechatronics Workshop module in which you learn to develop and manufacture a mechatronic assembly and program the control system. The project is worked on in a team and must be presented. There is also German as a foreign language in the elective area.

In the third semester you will work on your master's project and write your master's thesis. You have 20 weeks to do this and are preferably in an industrial company. In terms of content, the master's thesis topic should match your chosen field of study. The course ends with a final presentation (colloquium) in which you present and defend the results of your master's thesis. The academic degree is Master of Engineering.
