As a media computer scientist, you are a specialist in the production of digital media and the development of interactive computer applications. They design and implement software for media technology products, devices and applications. Your information technology skills will enable you to work in the field of increasing integration of digital media. As an expert in human-computer interaction, you will also explore the possibilities of the computer medium. You will receive the know-how for these diverse tasks in the Media Informatics degree program at the OTH Amberg-Weiden.

Studying at the interface between media, people and technology

Media informatics is part of applied informatics. That is why classic courses in core computer science are on your curriculum, including data processing systems, programming, algorithms and data structures, computer networks or software engineering. In addition, in the lectures Mathematics 1 and 2 you will receive the mathematical tools for studying computer science. You can get a valuable view of the bigger picture in interdisciplinary courses such as English, conversation skills and presentation techniques, project organization and business administration basics - important basic knowledge for your career.

In addition, there is a large number of course content on the points of digital media, development of user-friendly interactive software systems, web engineering or development of mobile applications. Here is an excerpt:

Practical semester and thesis

The fifth semester includes a 20-week practical study phase (supplemented by practical courses), which you complete in a company of your choice. There you have the opportunity to contribute your specialist knowledge to corporate practice. You will gain initial insights into future professional life and establish networks for your career.

The focus of the last semester is the five-month bachelor's thesis, in which you work on a practice-oriented problem from media informatics. Upon completion of your studies, you will receive the academic degree “B. Closely. for Media Informatics".

Teachers

Professors and external lecturers are practitioners with extensive professional experience. They represent their specialist area with a high level of competence as a computer scientist, engineer or media designer.
