Описание программы обучения "Physics"
The two year Master’s degree program is strongly oriented towards research on the “frontier of knowledge” and places an emphasis on practical training. In Mainz, our programs in Physics include the following subject areas that many of our research groups contribute to:- Quantum and atomic physics
- Hadron and nuclear physics
- Particle and astroparticle physics
- Condensed matter physics
Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Physics"
According to the character of physics as basic science, physicists are “generalists”. Your professional field is therefore characterized by a large breadth. Physicists work among other things in the electro-technical and chemical industry, information and communication industry as well as car industry, in banks and management consultancies. In addition, there is state research and teaching in universities and large research institutes. At the moment it is still possible to start as a physics teacher.Международный обмен по программе обучения "Physics"
Studying abroad usually takes the form of a semester abroad or an entire academic year. It can be organized individually, i.e. the student chooses a university abroad that meets their own needs and finances the study stay themselves or through the BAföG abroad. In addition, there are more or less firmly organized study trips abroad at foreign universities within the framework of educational programs, which are generally funded by a scholarship.Стажировки и практика в программе обучения "Physics"
Internships as an important interface between university and job help you with your job as well as with your study planning. You will get to know possible occupational fields, apply the knowledge you have acquired during your studies and during the internship you can determine whether everyday work corresponds to your professional ideas and interests. Internships also provide important additional qualifications, initial work experience and contacts with potential future employers.Учебный план программы обучения "Physics"
The consecutive courses consist of a 6-semester bachelor's and a 4-semester's master’s program with exams. The study phases are completed by Bachelor and Master theses in the scientific working groups.
The aim of the "Master’s course in Physics" is an advanced training in experimental and theoretical physics and the specialization of students in a research-related area of physics. The special lectures, in-depth lectures and minor subjects are freely selectable and make up the majority of the events. Lectures from the graduate programs can be taken in a research module.
Exercises and seminars leave room for discussion, stimulate independent scientific work and train lecture techniques. In the physical internships, the construction of complex experiments in the laboratory and the use of modern measuring devices and evaluation techniques are practiced.
Факультет
Faculty 08: Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science
Johannes Gutenberg University MainzFive institutes make up the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science: the three Physics Institutes - Physics, Nuclear Physics and Atmospheric Physics -, the Institute of Mathematics and the Institute of Computer Science. The Institute of Nuclear Physics also operates the Mainz microtron MAMI, a particle accelerator for electron beams, which is used for experiments in nuclear and high-energy physics.
Требования к поступающим на программу обучения "Physics"
(1) Anyone who has the necessary prior training is admitted to the master's degree in physics. This requires proof of a bachelor's degree in physics with at least a grade of 2.5 or a degree from a university in Germany or abroad that is not significantly different. In addition, in terms of content, we expect knowledge of the following areas of the bachelor's degree course in physics at JGU Mainz to be comparable in the scope of at least:
- 30 credit points in the experimental physics module area,
- 19 credit points in the internship module area,
- 25 credit points in the theoretical physics module area,
- 23 credit points in the higher mathematics and computing methods module area,
- 9 credit points for the written bachelor thesis.
The credit points are based on the standards of JGU Mainz.
(2) Deviating from the standard regulations in § 2 Paragraph 1, the suitability can be determined upon application for a Bachelor's degree with a grade lower than 2.5 in a selection interview (see § 2 Paragraph 5).
(3) An interview can alternatively be requested if the applicant can demonstrate at least 80% of the credit points listed in (1) in all areas or if no bachelor's thesis has been written.
(4) The examination board decides on the equivalence according to the specifications of the University Act and also on which additional services are to be provided. In order to receive admission, these requirements must not exceed a total of 27 credit points to be earned in the first year of study. The applicant will usually be informed of the result in writing within two weeks.
(5) The at least 15-minute selection interview in accordance with paragraphs 2 and 3 serves to determine whether the applicant has the necessary aptitude for a successful study in the master's program and sufficient motivation for studying physics. In particular, the special requirements of the physics master's program and the expectations of the applicant are discussed. The selection interview usually takes place 2 months before the start of the winter and summer semester upon written application. The application must be accompanied by a one-page synopsis in German or English, in which the applicant describes his or her motivation for starting the master's program. If the applicant does not appear on the agreed date without a sufficient excuse, he or she is considered unsuitable. If the apology is sufficient, the applicant will be invited to a new appointment. In this case, admission may not take place until the next semester. The selection interview will be conducted by 2 authorized examiners in accordance with § 8 Paragraph 2. After the interview, the examiners decide whether the applicant has passed the interview. A transcript of the selection interview must be made. The following are to be included:
- a) the names of the examiner,
- b) the name of the applicant,
- c) the date and start and end of the interview,
- d) Subject and result of the selection interview,
- e) the decision to pass the selection interview,
- f) the decision on the conditions for admission.
The minutes are to be signed by the examiner and deposited with the responsible examination board. The Examination Board decides whether any requirements in accordance with Paragraph 4 permit admission to the Master's program. If a candidate did not pass the interview, he or she can repeat the interview once. A selection interview can be carried out in the form of a video interview for applicants who cannot be expected to travel due to cost reasons, provided that it is ensured that the applicant does not use outside help.
(6) For the course in predominantly English language, sufficient command of the English language must be demonstrated by all applicants who have not acquired their degree at an exclusively English-speaking institution or who have learned English as their mother tongue. Evidence that is recognized is laid down in Section 7, Paragraph 5 of the Johannes Gutenberg University's enrollment regulations. This proof is deemed to be provided by submitting a German Abitur certificate if it can be seen that English was consistently taken by the end of the penultimate grade (grade 11 for G8 Abitur, otherwise grade 12) and completed with at least sufficient performance.
(8) If a certificate of completion is not available by the end of the application period for the proof of a Bachelor's degree in accordance with Paragraph 1 No. 1, an application based on a certificate of already completed examination and study achievements in the amount of at least 135 credit points is required by the responsible body of the previous university must have been issued. If an applicant is selected on the basis of the certificate named in sentence 1, admission is subject to the proviso that a certificate of completion is presented within a period specified in the letter of admission. If this proof is not provided in time, the admission expires.
(9) No knowledge of German is required for the master's degree in physics.
