Economics

Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg

Undergraduate Winter Semester

In economics, among other things, the following questions are discussed intensively:

  • How can you explain and effectively fight unemployment?
  • Is increasing globalization a curse or blessing for the German economy?
  • German society is aging. What are the economic policy challenges?
  • What sustainable effects can be expected from the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol on CO2 reduction?
  • Are tuition fees unsocial? How do markets work, e.g. for education?

If you are interested in such questions, economics has a wide range of activities: you learn to understand complicated phenomena of the economy. This gives you a sound basis for making your own decisions.

The one-subject Bachelor of Economics qualifies you for a practical job. In addition to the purely economic subjects, the training focuses on methods for analyzing economic processes and economic institutions. In the course of your studies, you develop an understanding of macroeconomic relationships and can thus contribute to solving cross-company economic problems.
