Nutritional science is a scientific discipline that deals with scientific issues relating to nutrition, health, communication and consumption. The focus is on people.
Nutritional sciences are scientifically and biomedically founded and include economics, communication and social sciences. Research and application are interdisciplinary.
Nutritional science and trophology have been independent studies in Germany since the 1960s. The field has been established in Mönchengladbach since 1971.
In the winter semester 2016/17, the degree program in Nutritional Sciences, detached from Oecotrophology, will be further developed and focused even more on the fields of work in Nutritional Science.
