Программа обучения Civil Engineering

Программа обучения "Civil Engineering" в TU Dortmund University

Bauingenieurwesen

The bachelor's degree in civil engineering provides the technical and scientific foundations and knowledge that enable further academic qualifications in a master's degree and a first professional qualification for the processing of planning and execution tasks in general building construction.

Among other things, the mathematical-mechanical basics, the basics of structural planning, the supporting structures and the material-specific dimensioning in the so-called Dortmund model construction. Within this interdisciplinary training concept, especially in the context of project work, the later professional practice and collaboration between architects and civil engineers is practiced during your studies and teamwork and social skills are promoted.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Civil Engineering"

The professional opportunities of civil engineers are broad: in addition to the classic planning work in engineering offices, graduates have a variety of fields of activity, e.g. as experts, in construction companies, in the construction industry, with project developers and in project management or in public administration. Due to the close integration with the architecture in the Dortmund model of construction, the civil engineering graduates are comprehensively and interdisciplinarily trained and thus prepared for the reality of the job market in a special way.

Subsequent Master's degree programs:

  • Civil Engineering (M.Sc.)
  • Construction Process Management and Real Estate Management (M.Sc.)

Стажировки и практика в программе обучения "Civil Engineering"

It is mandatory to complete an approximately 4-week (120 hour) internship within the course. It is recommended that the internship be completed in advance of the course.

Учебный план программы обучения "Civil Engineering"

The aim of the bachelor's degree is to impart basic knowledge for civil engineering and a basic understanding of engineering approaches and working methods. The application of basic knowledge is expanded through interdisciplinary projects in cooperation with the architects (Dortmund model construction) in order to promote the professional qualification for building practice.

The cornerstone of the Dortmund model is the joint training in the projects. This combines the transport of the idea of the Dortmund model and the advantages of joint training, at the same time linking the knowledge accumulated in the various courses to form an overall picture and the constructive discussion of the content with the project partner to achieve the common goal: a structural design ,

With the successful completion of the course, the graduates have a basic qualification for the engineering-related processing of planning and execution tasks in general building construction as well as the qualification for further in-depth scientific training in the master's program. In order to achieve the goals of the course, the students of civil engineering are taught the methodological skills for the application of the basics to planning and execution tasks in addition to the fundamental engineering knowledge.

The graduates of the course have a sound knowledge of the basics in the areas of mathematics and natural sciences (advanced mathematics, technical mechanics), which are supplemented by subject-specific basic knowledge (building physics, building materials science, statics, supporting structures, building construction). In addition to this basic knowledge, they have basic knowledge specific to the type of construction (steel, concrete and wood construction) with which they can apply the planning principles (design, analysis, verification methods) to a wide range of construction tasks
can apply. You can transfer the basic structural planning knowledge to a broader scale with knowledge in the fields of construction operations, construction management and construction, as well as construction law, and thus better identify the complexity of the construction tasks.

Due to the interdisciplinary cooperation with the architecture students in the projects of the Dortmund model construction, they know the holistic view of the real construction tasks and have trained skills for concept development, reflection and discussion of their own ideas. By applying the basic knowledge to real construction tasks in the projects, you have already practiced methodological competence in technical and intellectual dimensions. Practicing teamwork in the projects also strengthens social skills for later professional practice.

Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering
    TU Dortmund University

The Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering encompasses the two disciplines of Architecture and Urban Design as well as Civil Engineering. One hallmark of this faculty is the close interconnection of its two subjects which is evident in the interdisciplinary training approach of the “Dortmunder Modell Bauwesen” where architects and civil engineers are trained together. This model is unique in Germany and embodies an educational concept that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork while also providing thorough professional training in the respective discipline. In this context, the degree program also imparts interdisciplinary foundations that encourage a holistic view of construction projects. All programs include practical components in the form of specific collaborative projects.
