The Bayreuth physics course provides you with further valuable qualifications in addition to subject-related knowledge: You sharpen your ability to abstract, learn to solve problems competently and gain experience in interdisciplinary work. You will also learn to convey scientific and technical issues in an understandable way.
Successful graduation from our university opens up attractive professional fields in research, industry, business and public administration. As a physicist, you can, for example, B. work in industrial research and development, in process management, in management consulting or in software development. Through the intensive training in problem-solving thinking in physics studies, you are also well prepared for new areas of responsibility.

Focus on general physics
Let's say you've chosen to major in General Physics, your curriculum would look like the graphic above.
The compulsory elective area of physical direction allows you to deepen interesting physical topics. At the moment you can choose from: biophysics, measurement methods, modern optics, process computers and electronics, computics, crystallography and computer simulation of many-body systems.
The non-physical elective area enables you to broaden your knowledge individually. Here you can choose from a long list of events ranging from related natural sciences to mathematics, computer science and engineering to business administration and patent law.
Focus on biological physics
Here, the compulsory elective areas are partially predefined with basic lectures on biophysics, biochemistry, bioinformatics and genetics. The internships include special biophysical experiments.
Focus on technical physics
Here you will take part in lectures on materials science or design, business administration and patent law, among other things.
Focus on environmental physics
In addition to the physics lectures, you will also hear lectures on ecology, hydrology, meteorology, soil physics and modeling.
Focus on physics and philosophy
Here you supplement the physics lectures with lectures on the fundamentals of philosophy, logic and argumentation and the theory of science.
