Описание программы обучения "Psychology"

The Psychotherapist Training Reform Act (PsychThGAusbRefG), passed in September 2020, forms the basis for the (re)design of psychology studies. The law regulates the training of psychological psychotherapists. According to this, graduates of a 5-year university degree (first a bachelor's degree, then a master's degree with a focus on clinical psychology and psychotherapy, a total of 300 credit points), similar to doctors, dentists and pharmacists, can take the psychotherapy exam directly after completing their master's degree and receive their license (treatment permit).

The new regulation of psychotherapist training already requires the adaptation of the bachelor's degree in psychology. There will therefore be an adapted bachelor's degree in psychology with 180 credit points throughout Germany, which will enable graduates to take up a master's degree in a specific focus (for example clinical psychology and psychotherapy) or to study a general master's degree in psychology.

As before, the Bachelor's degree program in Psychology 180 credits teaches the elementary principles, methods, and most important areas of application. In order to meet the requirements of the licensing regulations, however, the proportions of the biological principles of behavior (medical and pharmacological principles) and clinical psychology as well as the practical training components are increased.

The bachelor's degree qualifies you for diagnostic, advisory and creative tasks in corporate health management, in social services, in the field of school and vocational education, in the private sector and in government administration, as well as for empirical and experimental research in scientific institutions.

The bachelor's degree also provides you with the prerequisites for continuing your studies in a consecutive master's degree program in psychology.

If the orientation internship and the professional qualification activity I are designed in accordance with the licensing regulations for psychotherapists, graduates of the polyvalent bachelor's degree can also be admitted to a master's degree with a focus on clinical psychology and psychotherapy and, after passing the psychotherapy examination, obtain approval as a psychotherapist.

During the course of study, three practical work placements are planned in the form of a research-oriented internship I (experimental psychology internship) and two external internships (orientation internship and professional qualification activity I).

The research-oriented internship I (experimental psychology internship) worth 6 credits (180 hours) is used to acquire basic experience in the scientific field. It takes place in the university's research facilities and is carried out under qualified supervision and in small groups.

The orientation internship worth 5 credits (150 hours) is used to get to know professional fields of psychological practice and provides initial insights into professional ethical principles as well as institutional, legal and structural framework conditions of psychological institutions.

The professional qualification activity I, amounting to 8 credits (240 hours), provides an in-depth insight into the professional fields of psychological practice, provides knowledge of institutional, structural and legal framework conditions as well as interdisciplinary work processes between different professional groups and basic communication skills with patients or clients or employees of different professional groups.

The two external internships (orientation internship and professional qualification activity I) should generally be completed in institutions that enable the interns to gain psychological experience in dealing with people.
