The Faculty of Life Sciences aims to strengthen life science research and teaching at the Humboldt University in Berlin and in the Berlin area and to anchor it in the regional, national and international research landscape in a forward-looking manner. The faculty is dedicated to current and future-oriented scientific, technological and social topics from the entire spectrum of life forms: from the molecular building block to the microbial, plant, animal and human organism, as well as their interactions with the living and environment. It primarily follows a scientific approach, which is supplemented by an economic perspective. There are also connections to the humanities and social sciences as well as to medicine. Research and teaching activities aim at scientific excellence, interdisciplinary and internationality. Particular attention is paid to partnership-based cooperation, the promotion of young scientists and the inclusion of members of disadvantaged groups.
