The Faculty of History and Arts consists two schools: The School of Arts Sciences includes the subjects art history, musicology and theatre studies, as well as art education and music education. The School of History comprises a large variety of history subjects (with disciplines concentrating on specific epochs, topics, and/or regions). Together they make the faculty one of the top addresses for high-level research and practice-oriented teaching, regularly ranked at the top of university league tables.
The faculty collaborates closely with the major archives, museums, and theaters in Munich. Most of the history fields are housed in the centrally located Historicum building, where the modern technological infrastructure and the largest University History Library in Germany provide exceptional working conditions for both research and teaching.
