As the largest faculty, the Faculty of Cultural Studies is a mainstay of the University of Paderborn. About 8,300 of the currently around 20,300 students at the University of Paderborn study at the Faculty of Cultural Studies, including over 7,000 students in the teaching profession. With its broad spectrum of subjects, from linguistics and literary studies to history, philosophy, educational sciences to theologies, to art, textile design, media studies and music, it offers not only the imparting of cultural and intercultural competence, but also of key qualifications for knowledge and information society.
Currently, around 105 professors, 9 junior professors and around 300 research assistants teach and research at the Faculty of Cultural Studies in eleven institutes. In addition, the centers for "Gender Studies" (ZG) and "Comparative Theology and Cultural Studies" (ZeKK), the Belgium Center (BELZ) and the "Center for Language Teaching" (ZfS) exist as cross structures.
