Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology represents its subject in all its diversity. To bundle its activities, however, the faculty has established competence fields in research and teaching to which the institutes and chairs of the faculty can be assigned.

The fundamentals of electrical engineering and information technology are based on mathematical-scientific principles, but the applications take place in all engineering disciplines. The basis for our success is therefore the interdisciplinary cooperation, which takes place in particular with the departments of physics, computer science and material sciences, with the medical faculty and mechanical engineering of RWTH Aachen University as well as with associated and external research organizations.

Mission

The prior mission of our faculty is to train high qualified and responsible engenieers in the broad field of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Computer Engineering for future leading positions in industry and society. Our faculty nationally and internationally holds a leading position in teaching and research in this field. The excellence of our faculty results from a close relationship between teaching and research, a good balance between a fundamental scientific approach and important industrial applications and intensive cooperations within the RWTH Aachen University, within the Jülich-Aachen-Research Alliance (JARA) and with associated institutes and external research partners. We are continuously improving this position aiming at long-lasting results.
