This makes the faculty ideal for investigating the availability and extraction of georesources and the materials that can be derived from them. Special expertise lies in the analysis and development of resource-saving material flows, from the search and extraction of raw materials to product design and recycling.
The central themes of geosciences and geography arise from the tasks of fundamentally understanding the earth as a living space, using it economically and protecting it sustainably. Understanding the earth's development in the past and future as well as the utilization of georesources are the core areas of teaching and research.
