In the renowned ZEIT ranking of the German universities, the Soest department of electrical energy technology achieved very good values. The study situation, supervision and laboratory equipment in the department are in the top group across North Rhine-Westphalia.

Manageable size and intensive support

Around 1,000 students are currently studying electrical engineering in the Soest department. An intensive supervision and training program guarantees close contact between teachers and students.

State-of-the-art equipment

Since summer 2002, the electrical engineering department has been located on the new university campus on the Lübecker Ring along with the two other Soester departments. State-of-the-art facilities and optimal IT equipment are available here.

Pioneering courses

The courses in Soest's electrical power engineering department have been developed in response to the needs and trends on the national job market as well as engineering training. Soester graduates thus have excellent professional prospects not only in regionally based industries but even more so in national and international companies.

The Electrical Power Engineering department at the Soest location currently offers 10 courses:

  • the Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • The courses in Electrical Engineering dual practice-integrating & Electrical Engineering dual training-integrating are in the accreditation!
  • the Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering with a focus on project management and technical sales
  • The courses in industrial engineering dual practice-integrating & industrial engineering dual training-integrating are included in the accreditation.
  • the Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with Informatics
  • the master's degree in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management
  • the Master's degree in International Management & Information Systems
  • the Master's degree in International Management & Information Systems - Online (regardless of location)

International Studies

International cooperation enables internships abroad and the exchange of students and professors.

Four of our courses, Business Administration with Informatics as well as the Masters courses in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management and International Management & Information Systems, International Management & Information Systems - Online, are conducted entirely in English.

Intensive relationships and cooperation with the domestic industry

All professors in the department have many years of industrial experience, know the companies in the region and use their contacts for students and graduates.

In addition to a wide variety of research and cooperation projects, the "Soester Model" was created, in which the student receives a scholarship to study from a cooperating company and gets to know the practical side during the lecture-free periods in the company.
