Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

The department emerged as one of the founding disciplines of the TH Darmstadt at the end of the 19th century. We shape the engineering sciences at the TU Darmstadt and the progress in one of the most potent metropolitan regions in Europe in the field of construction, environment and geodesy.

Our service

Our engineering research and teaching performance is the basis for our high national and international reputation.

We concentrate on engineering system solutions for the built environment in System Earth, from the acquisition of scientific knowledge to its application in engineering practice. The unity of research and teaching we practice guarantees the success of the department and promotes lifelong learning.

The symbiosis of science and engineering practice qualifies for the best opportunities and positions. Our self-image is national and international networking with science, business and administration.

Our focus in research and teaching basically includes engineering solutions for the functional, safe, energy-efficient and resource-saving design of the built environment.
