Since being refounded in 1994, the Faculty of Biology and its chairs have become a backbone of Dresden's life sciences. Prospective students can choose between the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Bachelor's degree and the Biology Master's degree. The Faculty of Biology's modern laboratory and practical equipment, as well as an application-focused, research-based education and the enthusiastic commitment of its staff guarantee that your studies will be exciting and something to look forward to.


The Faculty of Biology is one of five faculties of the School of Science at TU Dresden. It is home to the four departments of botany, genetics, microbiology and zoology and hosts a total of 13 chairs.

THE FACULTY OF BIOLOGY INTRODUCES ITSELF

Approximately 130 employees work, research and teach at the faculty. Some 400 students are enrolled in the three degree courses that are offered. Since 2006, the four institutes have been housed in an architecturally appealing building with a modern infrastructure. The employees are able to carry out research and teach in spacious, bright laboratory spaces equipped with state-of-the-art technology. In addition to laboratories for molecular biological, cell or developmental biological work, there is also an electron microscope and an isotope laboratory. Internships for up to 100 students are managed in a large internship laboratory.
