The Department of Natural Sciences has been established in Rheinbach in 1998. It offers Bachelor degree courses in the fields of Applied Biology, Chemistry with Material Sciences as well as Forensic Sciences and Master degree courses in Biomedical Sciences, Analytical Chemistry and Quality Assurance, Materials Science and Sustainability Methods.
The department is integrated in the local and national research community with numerous projects being funded by the EU, the state and the industry.
Our high standard in teaching and research aims at giving our students an optimal chance on the future job market. Therefore not only technical skills but also professional and personal competences like capacity for teamwork and language skills are being imparted already during the first semesters.
The education and training are particularly practice-oriented through many cooperations with manufacturing companies and research institutions and a great portion of laboratory work.
