Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences

With its six departments, 23 institutes, around 170 professorships and over 14,000 students, our faculty is one of the largest in the country. The wide range of modern degree programs is closely linked to the diverse and high-level research activities, which cover a wide range of predominantly fundamental aspects, e.g. Some of them also cover application-related topics. The good contacts to the Medical Faculty, the surrounding Max Planck Institutes and the Jülich Research Center enrich the range of courses in the long term. As one of the largest teacher training centers for mathematics and the natural sciences, the faculty is also setting standards in this area. In cooperation with the Center for Teacher Education, the course was set for the successful implementation of the teacher training reform in North Rhine-Westphalia.
