Our department enjoys an excellent reputation in research and teaching. In our three focus areas economics, business administration and economics and business administration, we tackle economic questions based on theoretical and empirical approaches. Current research is being discussed during our weekly research seminars as well as during workshops and conferences hosted or organised by Konstanz staff. Our departmental newsletter summarises news and developments and is published twice a year.

From the very beginning of the Excellence Initiative in 2006, the University of Konstanz has been successful in all three funding lines of the Excellence Initiative. We strongly contribute to the Graduate School of Decision Sciences which is one of the projects funded by the Excellence Initiative.
The University of Konstanz is know for its excellence in acquiring third-party funds. It is ranked first when it comes to the absolute funding sum per professor and second country-wide in humanities and social sciences according to the DFG funding atlas.
