The Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Mannheim combines the subjects English/American Studies, German Studies, History, Media and Business Studies under its roof Communication Science, Philosophy, Romance and Slavic Studies.
The outstanding feature of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is the close connection of the subjects among themselves and with the other faculties of the University of Mannheim.
This interdisciplinary orientation is mainly expressed in the BA and MA culture and economics. As a basic feature, however, it can be found in all our bachelor, master and teacher training programs.
Accordingly, the main focus of research at the Faculty of Philosophy is primarily on the interfaces between culture, society and economics , which come from interdisciplinary, international and intercultural perspectives .
We attach particular importance to the international orientation of the Faculty of Arts. This is reflected not only in our above-average number of foreign co-operations and the resulting exchange places for our students, but also in regular international dissertation and research projects as well as an annual summer school.
