In addition, the people who live or work in the rooms should feel comfortable. In the case of older buildings, requirements of monument protection must also be observed in some cases. This results in the need to cooperate with people from different areas, with clients, representatives of building authorities, specialist engineers from other areas or construction specialists.

They often work together with architects at the planning stage of an object. Based on the plans, they develop the first concepts and, if necessary, take over the technical and economic planning and monitoring of the interior, from the right flooring to the lighting. According to the wishes of the client, they produce detailed drawings of all the individual elements of the facility, obtain offers from suppliers and handicraft companies, check cost estimates, place orders, coordinate the work and ensure that deadlines are met and completion is on time. Possibly. they also develop concepts for the use of BIM methods and standards and implement them in project management.

Plan, monitor and evaluate well

From sketchy representations to detailed and work planning as well as mass determination up to the complete building application for the building authority: the interior designers carry out numerous tasks from the computer. Working with relevant construction software and CAD programs is part of everyday work.

The plans drawn up serve, on the one hand, for submission to the building control authorities, on the other hand, and on the other hand, as a working basis for the construction companies and craftsmen who are commissioned with the execution. The invitation to tender and the award of the various construction works are just as much part of the tasks of interior designers as the supervision of the construction work.

After the completion of the finishing work, interior designers arrange the building acceptance and check invoices. The systematic documentation of the overall result and the monitoring of the warranty also fall within their area of ​​responsibility. If you have an additional qualification in the field of energy-saving construction according to the Energy Saving Ordinance, you can also issue building energy certificates.

Furnishing advice and presentation

When working in furnishing advice, interior designers hold consultations with customers who want to furnish their home, work space or business. In the discussions, they determine the customer's wishes and the financial framework, point out possibilities and present design suggestions, and later, if necessary, the finished planning.

In addition to their interior design tasks, interior designers develop and design furniture, lights, building and interior design elements from design to series production, and are involved in catalog design and also in advertising and presentation.
