Quality Manager

Qualitätsmanager

Quality managers evaluate and streamline operational and production workflows across a range of industries. They design quality assurance measures, monitor compliance with relevant standards, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the organization’s quality assurance system.

Responsibilities

Quality managers translate company-wide quality management frameworks into industry- and business-specific measures—for example in-process lab analyses, standardized trainings, defined workflows and release routines, communication rules, or the consistent use of prescribed work documents. They implement these measures and actively contribute to their continuous improvement and evolution.

They also verify compliance with requirements, guidelines, and standards. The findings are documented and serve as the basis for further developing the existing quality management system and, where applicable, for certifying the company in line with the respective certification body’s rules.

Задачи

What’s it about? Quality managers analyze and optimize workflows and production processes across diverse industries. They design quality assurance measures, monitor compliance with standards, and drive the continuous improvement of the existing quality system.

Securing and improving quality

Quality management systems (QMS) are standard in medium-sized and large companies and are mandatory in some sectors, such as aerospace, medical technology, and pharmaceutical or food production. Quality managers ensure that QMS and QA systems are introduced, implemented, and maintained. To do so, they examine ongoing processes, develop action plans, align them with management, and implement the agreed steps. By refining structures for organization, communication, information flow, and leadership, they increase the efficiency of people and materials, reduce costs, and enhance process and product quality.

Within quality assurance, they identify issues, trace likely root causes, propose solutions, and support implementation. For example, they apply Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) early in development to reveal potential failure sources. They also contribute to quality manuals that codify procedures and work instructions.

Key instruments: audits and documentation

Ongoing internal and external audits are essential. Quality managers—or external auditors commissioned by them—check adherence to requirements, guidelines, and standards. Findings are documented and provide the basis for evolving the QMS and, where applicable, for company certification according to the respective certification body’s rules.

People and learning

Quality professionals may also support people-related topics, such as leadership. To strengthen quality awareness, they design and deliver training for employees.
