Business Information Systems, M.Sc.

Wirtschaftsinformatik - Informationsmanagement (Business Information Systems)

Business informatics is an interdisciplinary subject that combines concepts of business and economics with computer science. The master's degree in business informatics at the MLU is a consecutive, predominantly research-oriented course. The aim is to support students in developing a critical and integrated view of business information methods and tools and their possible uses. Graduates are thus able to work successfully in management positions in a company or an administration and to design, develop and use computer-aided processes and systems as decision-makers.

Will I get in

The programme has an admission restriction: the average grade of your certificate, converted to the German scale, decides. The cut-off changes every year — last year's value shows the order of magnitude, not a promise.

Graduates of the master's program in business informatics are in demand as executives (e.g. as chief information officer), IT specialists and IT managers in companies, in system and software houses as well as management consultancies. You are able to

  • analyze business processes and optimize them with IT support,
  • to develop architectures and concepts for innovative information and communication systems as well as
  • to plan and manage their implementation and integration into existing IT systems.

The fields of competence of business informatics include, for example, the development of innovative online platforms, the design and optimization of globally networked business processes or the implementation of modern application systems.

In addition, the research-oriented orientation of the course is an excellent prerequisite for a scientific career, e.g. B. in the form of a subsequent doctorate.

If your level is not enough yet

The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
