Will I get in
The programme has an admission restriction: the average grade of your certificate, converted to the German scale, decides. The cut-off changes every year — last year's value shows the order of magnitude, not a promise.
How the selection works and how strong the competition is — we go through it against your certificate when we select programmes for you.

The professional activities of industrial engineers are mostly at the interface between technology and business. In a large number of companies that offer technical products or services, one encounters tasks at this interface. Accordingly, the course is also designed to be interdisciplinary in order to meet the commercial, business and technical requirements of such tasks.

What is technically feasible is subjected to a critical economic feasibility study. Industrial engineers are therefore of central importance in the process landscape of a company. In this way, they make a significant contribution to the company's operational success as well as to its strategic design. The cross-divisional knowledge creates the prerequisites for being able to take on management functions. Industrial engineers can be used in almost all fields of employment in the industry, service and trade sectors.
Preferred fields of employment are:
- Logistics
- Marketing / Sales
- Controlling / Accounting
- Production and company management
- Purchasing
- Research and Development
- Innovation and technology management
- Project management
- Manufacturing / Production
At the end of the third semester you can choose your focus areas so that you can work in the areas of “Production and Development”, “Marketing and Controlling” or “Corporate Management and Information Systems” after your studies.
In addition to the technical competence from their studies, industrial engineers are also characterized by soft skills. In this job you should be able to think analytically and conceptually, work in a team and have a good understanding of numbers. Mandatory properties are interest in science and business.
In an industrial engineering profession you can expect the following tasks, for example:
- Support of product development processes with suitable software
- Project support taking into account economic key figures
- Technical and economic process optimization
- Planning of production processes.
On average, industrial engineers succeed in starting their careers after 2 months with 5 applications . Industrial engineers are often hired directly to a specific technical position . The range of variation of industrial engineers represents a great advantage for career prospects, which remain relatively stable even in times of crisis. The career opportunities are particularly good in interface areas such as logistics, controlling and marketing / sales, as one is dependent on a combination of technical and commercial know-how .
The starting salary starts at around € 30,000 - € 40,000 / year. Occasionally, € 50,000 / year is also possible.

Check the requirementsHow to get into this programme
- 1Check your certificate and its recognitionDirect admission, a year at a university at home, or Studienkolleg first — this decides the whole plan.
- 2German up to C1 and a certificateDSH or TestDaF has to be passed before you apply.
- 3Documents and translationsCertified translations of the certificate and transcript, an APS if required. 3–4 weeks.
- 4Application after recognition of the certificate until 15.01Send the documents well before the deadline — an incomplete application cannot be completed after it.
- 5Admission, visa, movingPlan 2–3 months for the visa and the blocked account in parallel.
How to apply
You can submit the application yourself or with our help — the university decides on admission in both cases.
Applications go through the university's portal or uni-assist. Typical mistakes:
- ×incorrectly made certified copies and translations
- ×a wrong set of documents
- ×the application submitted the wrong way
- ×errors or gaps in the application form
- ×the application submitted at the wrong time — too early or too late
An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.
StudyInFocus does not represent the university and does not influence the admission decision. We do not sell study places and do not guarantee admission — this is a service for preparing and submitting documents on the applicant's side.
If your level is not enough yet
The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
