University Entrance Qualification Exam (Feststellungsprüfung)

The Feststellungsprüfung is an official state examination that certifies eligibility for higher education at any German university. Passing this exam grants you the right to enroll in degree programs across Germany. It comprises both written and oral components, tailored to the subject focus you’ve chosen.

M-Course: for medical, biological, and pharmaceutical fields, e.g.:
Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology, Agricultural Sciences, Forestry, Sports Science

T-Course: for mathematical, natural science, or technical disciplines, e.g.:
Architecture, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Technical Education, Electrical Engineering, Geology, Geoecology, Computer Science, Information Management, Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Mineralogy, Physics, Technical Biology, Technical Mathematics, Surveying, Business & Economics (technical focus), Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics (*alt. W-Course)

W-Course: for economics and social sciences, e.g.:
Business Administration, Economics, Business Education, Public Administration

G-Course: for humanities and cultural studies, e.g.:
German Studies, History, Cultural Studies, Philosophy, Communication Studies, Languages, Arts & Musicology

S-Course: for language and related programs, including:
Language Studies (excluding German Studies), History (alt. G-Course), Law, Social Sciences (alt. W-Course)

Most students prepare for the Feststellungsprüfung by attending a Studienkolleg for up to one year. During this time, you receive specialized instruction in your chosen course track. State-run Studienkollegs charge only semester fees but require an entrance test, whereas private Studienkollegs have tuition fees but no admission exam.
