The study program Applied Computer Science at the University of Bayreuth teaches basic skills in both practical and theoretical computer science. He is enriched by courses in mathematics and application. In order to be able to successfully solve complex problems with methods of computer science, a deeper understanding of the relevant application is required.
The following three focal points are offered alternatively to each other, one of which is to be selected at the beginning of the study: bioinformatics, engineering computer science and environmental computer science. Courses in these areas are competently covered by other institutes or faculties. By doing so, students learn to understand the terminology of the chosen field of study and can thus successfully design and implement their application systems.
