The University of Jena is one of the few German universities to offer the very complex and highly specialized study of biochemistry. Due to the focus on "molecular biology", the University of Jena places a strong biological emphasis on education. The study is based on subject-specific education in the subjects of biochemistry, biophysics, experimental medicine, genetics, molecular biology, theoretical biology and cell biology. You will also receive a basic education in botany, microbiology, zoology, mathematics / biostatistics, physics and in particular chemistry. The first part of the study (1st and 2nd year) is uniform for all students. The second study stage (3rd year of study) includes the two basic modules "Biochemical and Molecular Biological Methods" and "Experimental Medicine" as well as a wide range of advanced modules that allow you to focus on an appropriate occupational field or focus on a consecutive master's program. You can choose three modules in any combination of the following specializations: Biological Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Medicine, Molecular Physiology, Biophysics and Theoretical Biology.
