Highly qualified business administrators are among the key pillars of the German economy in addition to technically or scientifically qualified graduates. For example, almost half of all executives of the top 30 companies in the German Stock Index (DAX) have studied economics, much of it in business administration (BWL). The most well-known college graduate with a degree in business administration is the chairman of the executive board of Siemens AG, Joe Kaeser.
One of the reasons for this is that the range of applications of commercial graduates is wide-ranging. It covers all industries and includes examples of functional areas such as controlling, finance, logistics, marketing, organization and accounting. The future perspectives of business economists include activities as executives, managing directors in German small and medium-sized companies, as well as directors in DAX companies as well as independent and freelance activities.
