Chemistry

Friedrich–Alexander University Erlangen–Nürnberg

Undergraduate Winter Semester

It can happen that chemistry "bangs and stinks", but thanks to a solid education, this only happens when you want it to. If you are interested in experimenting in the laboratory, working on chemical issues, producing and analyzing substances, and if maths and physics don't make you sweat, then studying chemistry at FAU is definitely the right choice for you.

When studying chemistry, you will acquire theoretical and methodological knowledge in all areas of chemistry. This also includes disciplines that only play a marginal role in school, such as physical chemistry (description of material properties and laws, spectroscopy and other important research methods) and theoretical chemistry (development of models and methods for a better understanding of chemistry).

Chemistry is a fundamental natural science and plays a key role in both research and industry. A country's progress and innovation are based on discoveries in chemistry at the molecular level: In chemical research laboratories, new materials and active ingredients are developed that significantly improve our everyday lives and our quality of life - for example, ingredients for new cancer drugs or new materials for more powerful solar cells. Chemistry shapes the future!
