The research-oriented master’s program deepens and expands the fundamental subject knowledge in Greek and Latin literature acquired in a bachelor’s program in Greek and/or Latin philology. In addition to advanced language skills, students gain broader knowledge of Greek and Latin literature, Greek and Latin linguistics, another discipline within classical studies, and methodological and analytical competences oriented toward current research questions. The connection to other humanities disciplines is established through the teaching of methods that enable interdisciplinary collaboration. These include, for example, theories and models from neighboring disciplines within classical studies, from other philologies, and from general literary studies or gender studies. Students acquire the ability to conduct independent academic research in the field of Greek and Latin philology and its reception.
