On this course students acquire in-depth specialist knowledge in the core areas of Computer Science. These include: databases, programming, mathematics, the architecture of computers and computer networks, and system programming. Over and above this, examples of current computer science topics with relevance to society include multimedia, bioinformatics, security and man-machine interfaces. Furthermore, students learn about algorithms and data structures, theoretical and practical computer science and the application of these areas in other specialist fields, such as medicine or electrical engineering. To this end, as a minor subject they also cover the essential features of an area other than computer science.
