Medicine is undergoing an enormous process of change. Information and communication systems continue to evolve, clinical studies to develop better medicines or treatment methods have to be planned and carried out, national and international standards are changing. All of this requires the integration of the areas of medicine, documentation and IT. Accordingly, qualified specialists are needed who are able to use the rapidly developing possibilities of computer science to their advantage.
The Data Science in Medicine (DSM) course, which is designed for seven semesters, pursues precisely this goal with its interdisciplinary focus. In addition to the mathematical-statistical basics, the training includes the three areas of medicine, documentation and computer science. Close cooperation with the many clinics and pharmaceutical companies in the Ulm area ensures that practical training is up to date.
