The subject History consists of a variety of subjects, which reflect the whole methodological and content diversity of historical science. A distinction is made between epochs, factual disciplines and regional disciplines, which are defined accordingly: over the period they are dealing with, the specific area of investigation or the region being explored. Despite their diversity and variety, all historical subjects have a fundamental methodical approach in common: they try to explore the past and thereby better understand the present. The central basis of historical science are the sources of history, that is, every kind of representational, written, medial, and in rare cases also oral tradition. To evaluate and interpret these with historical methods is the task of the historian; Learning these methods is an integral part of the history course. The study is predominantly exemplary. One of the main goals of the study is the ability to methodically, systematically and theoretically guided work beyond all teaching contents.
