The Potsdam Bachelor's program in "Interdisciplinary Russian Studies" aims to train broad-based country specialists who are characterized by both comprehensive knowledge of the Russian language and culture and extensive expertise in the political and economic system of Russia and Eastern Europe.
Through a scientifically sound examination of Russia's past and present in comparison to other post-Soviet states and through the teaching of Russian, which, with over 250 million speakers, enjoys the status of a world language, the program contributes to strengthening expertise on Russia, which should enable us to better address global economic, social, security, and environmental challenges. In the wake of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, this expert knowledge of political and social processes in the region is in greater demand than ever.
