The LMU Master in Logic and Philosophy of Science is an international, research-oriented English-taught master’s program at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. It combines logic, formal methods, philosophy of science, and analytic philosophy and is designed for very strong graduates from philosophy and suitable scientific disciplines.
The program was founded in 2012 and is based at the Faculty of Philosophy, Philosophy of Science and Religious Studies together with the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy.
It is a consecutive, strongly research-oriented master’s program. Its aim is to provide solid training in philosophical logic, mathematical logic, applied logic, general and special philosophy of science, and formal methods that play a central role in philosophy.
The program is intentionally interdisciplinary and is open not only to philosophy graduates but also to applicants from mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, neuroscience, computer science, engineering, economics, linguistics, psychology, cognitive science, social sciences, and related fields.
