Graduate Winter Semester Summer Semester

The aim of the M.A. program (leading to the Master of Arts degree; standard period of study four semesters) is to expand, with a scholarly focus, the knowledge and skills acquired in the B.A. program. The M.A. phase introduces students to the current state of research in Slavic studies in both contemporary and historical contexts. Language proficiency in the chosen Slavic language is further developed, and the foundations of an additional Slavic language are acquired.

  • How do we learn a language and acquire additional ones?
  • How is language processed in the brain?
  • How have Slavic literatures and cultures developed, and what is happening today in Central and Eastern European countries?
  • What characterizes Slavic languages and cultures?
  • What happens when children grow up multilingual?
