The administration of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE), the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA) and the Max Planck Computing and Data Facility (MPCDF) is a central service facility and looks after around 650 institute members. The joint administration is organizationally assigned to the MPE at the Garching location near Munich. The head of administration supports the managing director and the directors in the administrative management of the institute with the aim of administratively implementing the interests and needs defined in science.

• Head of the administrative area (purchasing, finance, human resources, housekeeping) with currently 40 employees
• Advice and support for the directors or the management, in particular the managing director, in budgetary, procurement and labor law issues
• Support and relief of the scientific department groups in all administrative matters
• Planning, organization, coordination and optimization of all administrative processes
• Control of finance and accounting, controlling, budget planning and budget execution, contracts, procurement and procurement
• Supervision of the budget and economic management of the institutes
• Ensuring compliance with all legal, grant-related and MPG-internal requirements in administrative activities and in financial, personnel and procurement issues

• Completed academic university degree (Master) in economics, law or administrative sciences or a comparable qualification
• Relevant work experience and in-depth knowledge of finance, procurement and human resources, preferably in a research environment or a publicly funded facility
• Several years of experience in leading employees
• Confident demeanor and communication skills

• Very good written and spoken German and English
• Confident handling of common software applications (MS Office)
• Knowledge of SAP is desirable
