For our Institute for Flight System Technology in Braunschweig we are looking for a Engineer, Aerospace Engineer or similar b> Pilot Assistance Systems for flying with external loads in the offshore use of helicopters
Tasks:
The helicopter department of the DLR Institute of Aeronautical Technology researches various aspects of helicopter flight system technology. The focus is on the recognition of border areas and the adaptation of the system behavior to the capabilities of the pilot in future operation. The aim of the research is to support the development of new technologies to improve the flight characteristics, safety, deployment efficiency, economy and environmental performance of aircraft. As a tool for the research, the institute uses nonlinear helicopter simulation programs, a flight simulator and the research helicopter EC 135 ACT / FHS.
For scientific work with a focus on pilot assistance systems for flying with external loads in offshore use of helicopters, a new employee is being sought. The topic is well suited for the derivation of a PhD.
Specifically, these are the following activities:
- Expansion and extension of an existing system for helicopter external load control with new functions (eg automatic load positioning on moving objects)
- Development, connection and test of an HMI (Human Machine Interface) for a rescue operator in the AVES
- Preparation, monitoring and evaluation of experiments in the simulator
- Publication of scientific results at conferences and in journals
Requirements:
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Control Engineering or similar.
- Good knowledge in the field of control engineering and flight mechanics
- Good programming skills in MATLAB / Simulink and a high-level programming language
- Self-dependent work and initiative
- Contact and teamwork as well as creativity li>
- good command of spoken and written English li>
- Experience in handling complex simulation environments in MATLAB / Simulink desirable li>
- Experience in the field of helicopter control advantageous
