The role

The Foundry Engineer is accountable for continuous improvement and optimization of foundry processes to achieve outstanding process stability, cost efficiency, and product quality. Key elements include an analytical mindset, the application of Design of Experiments (DoE), and the robust industrialization of new products from prototype to stable serial production.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing foundry processes to improve efficiency in quality and cost
  • Provide technical support for new product launches—from initial sampling to full serial readiness
  • Apply analytical methods (e.g., DoE, statistical process control, root-cause analysis)
  • Contribute to new casting design to ensure manufacturability, repeatability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Coordinate closely with materials engineering, quality assurance, design, production, and external partners

Requirements and expectations

  • Completed degree in foundry engineering, materials engineering, or metallurgy
  • Initial industry experience in foundry practice, ideally investment casting or vacuum casting
  • Preferably hands-on exposure to regulated, high-spec industries (e.g., aerospace, energy/turbomachinery, defense, automotive)
  • Solid knowledge of foundry manufacturing technologies and materials
  • Proficient with process-improvement tools and methods (e.g., DoE, Six Sigma, FMEA)
  • Strong analytical mindset, structured work style, and a high quality bar
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach in cross-functional projects
