The course has a modular structure and comprises 21 compulsory modules. The first year of study is completed as an orientation year with the bachelor's degree in media informatics and the diploma degree in computer science, so that a change to the other degree is possible without any problems.
Overall, the bachelor's degree in computer science offers a broad education in the scientific basics of computer science. It includes the analysis, conception and implementation of information processing systems. The static structure and dynamic behavior of such systems are examined using basic concepts such as algorithm, information, complexity and efficiency. The main focuses of the course are:

In addition to imparting theoretical basics, the bachelor's degree in computer science also includes application-oriented aspects. In the RoboLab introductory internship in the first semester, for example, you will gain initial experience in team and project work. You develop applications for a robot and at the end of the internship you measure yourself against the ideas of other groups. In the third semester you will acquire practical and engineering knowledge in the implementation of software projects as part of the software technology project. In addition to a well-founded professional and technical IT training, you should prepare special content-related, didactic and methodological measures for professional life. This includes teamwork, general basics, and languages.
In the area of general qualifications, further key competencies in computer science can be acquired. A technical focus is possible especially in the in-depth and specialization modules and in the bachelor thesis.
