With more than 50,000 students, the FOM is one of the largest universities in Europe. Initiated by the non-profit foundation BildungsCentrum der Wirtschaft, it enables professionals, trainees, high school graduates and international students to study at a university. The FOM is state-recognized and offers more than 50 accredited bachelor's and master's degree programs - in campus studies at 35 university centers or in location-independent digital live studies from the high-tech studios of the FOM. Students can also gain study experience at renowned partner universities worldwide.

Over 10,000 cooperation partners

As a business-oriented, internationally active university, the FOM maintains a large network of cooperations: more than 10,000 companies, associations and municipalities support their own employees and trainees with an FOM degree and are in exchange with the university, both with regard to individual specialist content and with support the development of new courses.

State recognition of the FOM since 1993

When the courses started in the winter semester of 1994, 149 working students were enrolled at the FOM. The university was already officially recognized by the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Science. Since then, state recognition has been continuously extended, most recently in July 2020 by a further ten years. The state recognition guarantees the equivalence of the university degrees awarded by the FOM with the degrees from state universities.
