Die Fachhochschule Potsdam startete nach ihrer Neugründung 1991 mit dem Fachbereich Sozial- und Bildungswissenschaften. Bis heute ist er mit circa 1000 Studierenden, 24 hauptamtlich Lehrenden und 21 Wissenschaftlich Mitarbeitenden der größte Fachbereich an der Hochschule.
