Department of Computer Science

With around 1,300 students at the moment, we are a growing department that impresses with its diverse range of subjects, its excellent atmosphere between students, teachers and employees, but especially with its high level of expertise in teaching and research.

Applied computer science was offered as a course of study for the winter semester 1990/91. It was set up as an independent department in 1994 and expanded to include distance learning in computer science the following year. In 2002 the first Bachelor and Master courses in Computer Science were accredited.

In addition to the Bachelor's degree in Computer Science - Digital Media and Games, we have been offering the Master's degree in Business Information Systems - Information Management since 2008. For the winter semester 2011/12 we introduced the medical informatics course in cooperation with the local teaching hospitals Barmherzige Brüder Trier and Klinikum Mutterhaus der Borromäerinnen.

The bachelor's degree in Computer Science - Secure and Mobile Systems was offered for the first time in 2013. In this way, we are addressing the topics of IT security and applications for mobile devices, which are becoming increasingly relevant these days.

Since the winter semester 2014/15, we have been offering the dual training-integrated bachelor's degree in physiotherapy in cooperation with the physiotherapy schools of the hospital of the Barmherzige Brüder Trier and the Catholic Clinic Koblenz-Montabaur. Since 2015 we have also been cooperating with the school for physiotherapy at the educational center for professions in health and social care in the Eifel-Moselle and since 2016 with the school for physiotherapy at the Nardini Clinic St. Johannis in Landstuhl. Another of our cooperation partners is the School for Physiotherapy of the MEDISCHULEN in Trier.

In cooperation with the School for Speech Therapy at the Catholic Clinic Koblenz - Montabaur in Koblenz and the School for Speech Therapy at the cts School Center St. Hildegard in Saarbrücken, we have been offering the dual training-integrated Bachelor's degree in Speech Therapy since the winter semester 2015/2016.

In cooperation with the occupational therapy school of the Elisabeth Foundation of the German Red Cross in Birkenfeld, we have been offering the dual training-integrated bachelor's degree in occupational therapy since the winter semester of 2016/2017. Since 2017 we have also been cooperating with the school for occupational therapy at the MEDISCHULEN in Trier.
