How to apply

You can submit the application yourself or with our help — the university decides on admission in both cases.

Apply yourself

Applications go through the university's portal or uni-assist. Typical mistakes:

  • ×incorrectly made certified copies and translations
  • ×a wrong set of documents
  • ×the application submitted the wrong way
  • ×errors or gaps in the application form
  • ×the application submitted at the wrong time — too early or too late

An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.

  • ✓We check every document before it is submitted
  • ✓We handle the correspondence with the university and uni-assist
  • ✓We forward your documents and keep track of the deadline

100 % of the applications submitted through us were accepted for review — this is not an admission decision.

To apply with us, order at least 2 weeks before the application deadline. What matters is the order itself — documents can follow later: these two weeks are exactly the time for checking and preparing them. The earlier you order, even if something is still missing, the calmer and more reliably we prepare everything together for the strongest application.

StudyInFocus does not represent the university and does not influence the admission decision. We do not sell study places and do not guarantee admission — this is a service for preparing and submitting documents on the applicant's side.

About the course

First you apply via uni-assist for the programme «Deutschkurs / German courses» (school certificate with a certified translation, language proof, passport, the uni-assist fee); there are no deadlines, the check takes 4–6 weeks. Once uni-assist has confirmed you, you register for a module — at the earliest 3 months before it starts and for one module at a time. Your level is shown by a certificate or a placement test.

Each module ends with a written exam and gives 6 ECTS points; at least 80 % attendance is needed to sit it. The university's C1 course certificate counts as language proof for applying to programmes of the University of Giessen; enrolment needs the DSH-2. The B2 certificate is accepted by the Studienkolleg Mittelhessen. After C1 there is a DSH preparation module (2–3 weeks).

The registration certificate for the courses is accepted for an applicant visa (Bewerbervisum). Course participants are applicants; they are not enrolled at the university.

Schedule

Where this course is in the method

A language course is step 5: language. It comes after the audit and the documents but before the exam and the application. Plan it backwards from your application date.
